Barry Sitting With Hank After Seeing the Sex Tape

Updated on August 13, 2025, by Diego Pineda Pacheco:

With an explosive finale that left every fan’s jaw on the floor,Barryhas finally reached its much-awaited conclusion. The show’s fourth season was undoubtedly one of the best, as well as one of the funniest. Even with the series amping up its dramatic qualities more than ever before, there was still more than enough room to make viewers laugh with a few more of the funniestBarryepisodes.

12"Chapter One: Make Your Mark"

Season 1, Episode 1 (2018)

Barrywastes no time in having one of its funniest episodes. In the pilot, the Chechen mobsters have contracted Barry (Hader) to assassinate a man who has been sleeping with the wife of Goran (Glenn Fleshler), the mob boss.

This episode shows the fascinating dichotomy between Barry’s two lives, and the absurdity of the Chechen mobsters who, despite being cold-blooded murderers involved with weapons and drugs, can hardly be taken seriously by the audience.

Stephen Root as Fuches in HBO’s Barry, “wow”, final episode.

Season 4, Episode 8 (2023)

A show as unique and consistently subversive asBarryneeded to go out with a fresh, unexpected bang, and “Wow” is nothing if not precisely the kind ofgreat ending that the showdeserved. It’s emotional, it’s intelligent, it’s full of surprises, and it has just the right amount of the show’s signature style of humor, making it an excellent finale and one ofBarry’s best episodes.

The final season of the show was a brilliant examination of the nature of redemption and forgiveness, of the concept of legacies, and of the lies everyone tells themselves in order to be happy. The finale brings all those themes together in a string of scenes that mix together suspense, gut-wrenching emotion, slapstick, and fantastic comedic timing.

10"Chapter Two: Use It"

Season 1, Episode 2 (2018)

In the second episode of the show, Barry’s enamored with Sally and the acting class he has just joined, giddy beyond measure when he finds out that he’s going to play a part about a priest that is molesting boys.

The ridiculousness of Barry being excited about a role of that nature, combined wit Fuches (Stephen Root) being brutally attacked and captured by the Chechens, captures the duality of this complex character, and starts to show him as someone that might not be all that likable.

9"Past = Present x Future Over Yesterday"

Season 2, Episode 3 (2019)

The second season ofBarryis probably its funniest, and it shows that from pretty early on. Episode three has Sally (Sarah Goldberg) reflect on her tumultuous and traumatic past, while Barry offers to train NoHo Hank’s (Anthony Carrigan) inexperienced men.

The episode balances sweetness and laughs in its further development of Barry and Hank’s iconic dynamic. It also continues to exploreHank’s love for Cristóbal(Michael Irby), as he has no interest in taking over the Bolivian’s business. Instead, he is fantasizing about having a 50/50 split with a man who was supposed to be his enemy.

Fuches needing to milk a goat to eat cereal

8"forgiving jeff"

Season 3, Episode 1 (2022)

After a much-too-long three-year break,Barryfinally returned to fans' TV screens with an episode that very clearly showed that things were nothing like before. Hank is hiding Fuches deep in Chechnya in a shack where he cannot watch his beloved Ohio State play on the weekends, Sally is feeling the pressure of success as the creator and star of her own show, and Barry is looking for work on the dark web.

Fuches has to get milk directly from one of the goats on the farm in order to eat his cereal, and Barry is unwilling to accept that one of his clients would forgive his target. These are only two of many hilarious scenes that make this one of the funniest episodes of the show.

7"limonada"

Season 3, Episode 2 (2022)

After Mr. Cousineau confronts Barry about killing Janice, the hitman cannot bring himself to kill his mentor, so he comes up with a plan to get him an acting role to make up for it. The setup alone makes it clear why this is such an amusing half-hour of television, but there’s a lot more depth to it than it may seem.

The episode is funny in one scene, and then flips the mood completely in the next in taking a deep and serious tone with its story and character writing. Barry used to be one ofthe most likable assassins on TV, but after “limonada,” it was clearer than ever that he could also be absolutely terrifying.

6"Chapter Eight: Know Your Truth"

Season 1, Episode 8

After the Chechens have once again captured Fuches, Goran decides to bring in someone to torture Fuches in a rather… unconventional way. This becomes a problem, because Barry has vowed to give up his life of crime.

The first season’s finale is one of the bestBarryepisodes. The protagonist is able to save Fuches in a moment that shows the show isn’t afraid to get dark and gory, and the whole sequence of the rescue is as funny as it is gruesome. The ending of the episode is one of the series' most dramatic moments, but all the comedy that came before is a great counterweight.

Season 2, Episode 4

After many attempts to get Barry to admit that he killed Detective Loach’s (John Pirruccello) partner Janice (Paula Newsome), Loach gets lucky when Barry frantically comes to visit Fuches because of a mishap with Sally at her ex-husband’s hotel room. The tension in the scene is released and reversed when the detective’s true intentions are revealed.

Loach demands that Barry kill the man that is sleeping with his ex-wife. As Barry exclaims “WHAT?!” to close the scene, so too does the audience. The whole episode is a perfect showcase of the writers' ability to mix comedy, suspense, and delightfulplot twists inBarry.

4"berkman > block"

Season 2, Episode 8

Just as Hank and Cristóbal are about to have a showdown, Fuches decides to use the situation to protect himself from a Barry hell-bent on killing him. Somehow, the writers manage to sneak in a hilarious speech, a dash of romance, and a gut-wrenching twist in one of the best episodes ofBarry.

Cristóbal shares a long embrace with Hank as dozens of armed men and hardened criminals watch them profusely apologize to each other, proclaiming how much they want to be together. It’s a touching moment that should get just about anyone cackling, which is only warming you up for when the rug is pulled from under your feet in this finale’s ending.

3"you’re charming"

Season 4, Episode 3

The first couple of episodes ofBarry’s final season caught everyone off-guard with their slow pacing and quasi-surrealistic tone. While season three kept that experimental atmosphere going, it also went back to the show’s typical hilarious self, which is a huge part of what makes it one ofthe most binge-able shows you’re able to stream.

“you’re charming” sees Barry make his daring escape from prison, and a cameo byGuillermo Del Torothat’s guaranteed to have you grinning from ear to ear. There’s a clear sense that the story is starting to come to an end, but that’s no reason to not keep the laughs coming.
