Warner Bros.has been trying to move on fromZack Snyder’svision for theDCEUbut hasn’t found a clear story direction yet. However, they’ve found a vision that both they and fans can get behind, and it comes from writer and directorJames Gunn. AlthoughThe Suicide Squadwasn’t a big financial success, it was beloved by pretty much everybody and hailed as one of the best DC movies, possibly comic book movies in general, of all time. More recently, Gunn delivered the DCEU’s first TV show with aSuicide Squadspin-off focusing on the titular gun-toting man-child,Peacemaker. The series was equally beloved and widely being considered the best property in the DCEU for Gunn’s signature comedic style, its excellent characterization of Peacemaker, andJohn Cena’sstandout lead performance.

Recently, Gunn talked about another DC series being in the works focusing on a character other than Peacemaker and fans are curious as to whom it could be. The only hint that Gunn gave fans is that it is set in the “same universe” and that it won’t be as much of a comedy as Peacemaker. Although incredibly cryptic, many fans believe that it’ll be anotherSuicide Squadspinoff, but it could mean something more. Warner Bros. has a lot of faith in Gunngiven the amazing cameos inPeacemaker’s finale, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Gunn move out of theSuicide Squadand chart a whole new path for the DCEU.

Bloodsport: The Rat-Fearing Assassin

If Gunn’s next series is anotherSuicide Squadspinoff, it’ll most likely catch up with the antics of the deadly, rat-fearing assassin Bloodsport.

Like Peacemaker, Bloodsport was a breakout star ofThe Suicide Squadand an instant fan-favorite for his ability to turn anything, including his armor, into a weapon, as well as his straight-man persona that balances out the eccentric squad. Fans would certainly love to see his story continue with Gunn’s vision and, after all,Idris Elbais a hot commodity right now.

Booster Gold in the Comics

Booster Gold: DC’s Glory Seeker

Of all of DC’s heroes, no one is more fitting to Gunn’s comedic style than the narcissistic and glory-seeking hero Booster Gold.

Yes, it’s kind of a lateral move to Peacemaker and Gunn did say this new series won’t be an outright comedy, but hear me out. Booster Gold is perfectly fitting for Gunn’s ability to make “lesser heroes” total fan-favorites and given that a lot of DC’s biggest heroes have gotten live-action counterparts, it’s time that Booster Gold joins the mix. Also, withThe Flashdealing with time travel and the multiverse it’s a perfect time to bring him in.

Ratcatcher: Bring Her Back, Rats and All

Another breakout star ofThe Suicide Squad,Daniela Melchior’sRatcatcher is another likely candidate for Gunn’s next DC show.

Fans would certainly be happy to see more adventures with Ratcatcher and her band of rats led by the adorable Sebastian. A series focused on Ratcatcher now out on her own could carry some horror vibes that Gunn used to be known for and maybe could be a great coming of age tale for the character fitting to what he did withPeacemaker.

Viola Davis as Amanda Waller in the DCEU

ARGUS: Waller’s Own Squad

Based on what we’ve seen inPeacemakerandThe Suicide Squad, Gunn loves fleshing out Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and her team of behind-the-scenes specialists.

He’s created a deeper background for ARGUS by letting some of their characters come out from behind the desk and into the field andeven gave Waller a daughter, something that’s not from the comics. So, why wouldn’t he jump at the chance to do something more with Waller and ARGUS, especially with how they’re now in the public eye thanks toPeacemaker’s finale?

Deadshot: The Return of a Master Marksman

Many have been wondering if we’ll ever seeWill Smith’sDeadshot again in the DCEU, and although he was MIA in the lastSuicide Squadadventure, maybe it’s time that Gunn brings him back.

In a similar vein to Bloodsport, watching Smith’s Deadshot perform contract hits and try to fix issues within his family could make for a good series and there are some comic storylines that Gunn could pull from. Smith’s charm could easily work well with Gunn and perhaps focusing on Deadshot could bring other big characters into the DCEU, like Green Arrow.

Swamp Thing and Abby Arcane in Swamp Thing (TV)

Killer Frost: DC’s Ice Cold Killer

Although she’s generally been a prominent member of theSuicide Squadin the comics, Killer Frost has yet to join the roster and fans are anxious to see her make her DCEU debut.

It would be interesting to see Gunn tackle Killer Frost since she’s different from other characters Gunn has dealt with before given her plots surrounding love and revenge. More importantly, it could be a fun way to lead into a thirdSuicide Squadmovie. The series could easily flesh out her story as an anti-hero and then lead her into leading the next iteration of theSuicide Squad.

Swamp Thing: Resurrecting the Dead

Many DC fans were sad to seeDC Universe’s Swamp Thingget canceled even before its first season was released, mostly because it was awesome. It had the perfect horror imagery and some solid story potential but was ultimately cut short and left unfinished.

Perhaps, though, Gunn could reboot it and bring it into the DCEU. It’s not that farfetched given Gunn’s roots in the horror genre, and it could be a great culmination of his vision. Maybe he can even bringJames Wanback as producer, and we could get the ultimate team-up.

Black Manta: Righting a Wrong

While James Wan’s attempt to haveThe Trenchbe a secret Black Manta movieonly led to the entire project being scrapped, perhaps Gunn could be developing a TV series for the character.

There’s certainly enough story material for Gunn to pull from, and it would be cool to see both Wan and Gunn’s distinct visions come together for a fan-favorite villain like Black Manta. Who knows what kind of deep-sea adventures Gunn could bring Black Manta on, but boy, wouldn’t it be great to find out?
