American PickershostMike Wolfehas recently come under fire, and it has to do with his antiques store, Antique Archaeology, in Nashville.The U.S. Sunhas reported that customers are blasting his store for “overpriced items” and warning others not to visit the shop. Other issues include “low inventory,” as fans have stated.
Taking to social media, fans are criticizing the antique store. One customer described the shop as a “huge disappointment,” writing, “Made a special trip to go there. Total waste of time.Very few items for sale and what were there were overpriced.Don’t waste your time.” Another customer wrote, “Waste of time. We love the show and were excited to get to go, but it was a total waste of time!”
Another left a review, stating, “The Antique Archaeology store left me unimpressed.A lot of mass-produced souvenir items for sale with a few antiqueson display.” Another reviewer also wrote, “Would have been very disappointed if I came up just for this. Was expecting an antique store, not anAmerican Pickersgift shop.”
The Expensive Items in the ‘American Pickers’ Store Cause More Outrage
The U.S. Sunobtained photos of the antique store that is receiving criticism, along with its items. According to one photo, various Antique Archaeology and Two Lanes T-shirts were on sale with a retail price ranging between $25 and $37. Bowl sets from the store cost $16.99. However,other photos reveal that many antique items cost over $1,000. “They have shot glasses, t-shirts, and can coozies and shop towels with their name on it, but not much else,” one reviewer wrote. “Very few antiques, and the ones they have are super expensive! $1,500 for a small quaker sign.”
Photos that the publication obtained reveal that an antique coin horse ride cost $3,500 and a stock market machine cabinet cost $3,000. Wolfe is also selling a cast iron water fountain for $1,500 and a harmonica display case for $1,200.Other antique items cost less than $1,000. This includes an industrial cabinet, which is worth $995, and a Cleveland Euro Mod bike, which has a retail price of $950. More affordable items include a Coca-Cola diner clock for $300, an antique dollhouse for $195, a birdhouse for $175, and a red Huss sign and a Jerry Lee Lewis jacket that both cost $595.
Wolfe’s Antique Archaeology store is based in Nashville and Iowa. Customers and fans in Nashville complained about the prices and the inventory. Customers in Iowa also complained about the prices, butone customer’s biggest concern was with how it is “more of a gift shop.”They wrote that the shop has“more items to promote the show/store than antiques for sale. More of a museum.” The reviewer shared that they were glad that they went but stated, “I think more people should know what they are going to find when they arrive should they choose to stop by.”
The news comes afterWolfe reveals a surprising career move, as he is set to make his film debut on the big screen. He will make an appearance as Mark inThe Day of the Reckoning, which also stars his girlfriend,Leticia Cline. The movie will be released in theaters on March 28.
