If you’ve longed to seeBrendan Gleesonplay the father of fellow IrishmanMichael Fassbender, you’ll get your chance—in a video game movie, no less! Per Deadline, Gleeson andJeremy Ironshave been added to the formidable cast ofAssassin’s Creed, 20th Century Fox and New Regency’s adaptation of the popular video game series. The story revolves around a man who is able to go back in time and assume the roles of his various ancestors throughout history. Fassbender stars in and is producing the film, which reunites him with hisMacbethdirectorJustin Kurzeland co-starMarion Cotillard.
While Glesson plays the father of Fassbender’s character, Irons will play the father of Cotillard’s. Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, a man who unlocks the technology to unlock his genetic memories, thus allowing him to experience the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar in 15th Century Spain. He soon discovers that he’s the descendent of a line of assassins, and must amass knowledge and skills to defeat the shady Templar organization in present day.Bill Collage,Adam Cooper, andMichael Lesliepenned the screenplay whileFrank Marshallis producing.

History tells us we should be wary of any and all video game movies, but the team assembling forAssassin’s Creedis unprecedented in its promise.
