In a small piece of news, our resident Superman,Henry Cavill, has joined Facebook. While on any other day this wouldn’t be worth addressing, he marked his social media milestone bydebutingthe magazine cover for Total Film’s issue onBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The Holy Trinity has assembled in this latest look at DC’sMan of Steelfollow-up/Justice Leagueprecursor. Though the image itself is new, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before.Gal Gadotstands front and center as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, while she’s flanked on either side byBen Affleck’s Bruce Wayne/Batman and Cavill’s Kryptonian strongman. The Amazonian warrior is said to only play a minor role in the film, but based on this image and the film’s Comic-Con trailer, she has become a major selling point.

Plastered across the trio is the film’s title along with a pull-quote from Cavill describing the film as a piece of “comic-book history.” Fans will be the judge of that when the film hits theaters starting on March 25 of next year. With the hype comes a spoonful of hesitation. While I want to give into my excitement for the first live-action film featuring both the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel, the dark and gritty nature ofZack Snyder’s first outing in this universe rubbed some the wrong way. Meanwhile, we’ve experienced the consequences of overstuffing superhero films with characters. (We’re looking at you,The Amazing Spider-Man 2.)
That said, there’s tons to look forward to. While the film, as the title indicates, sees a face-off between these two famous heroes,Batman v Supermanwill also expand the world ofMan of Steelahead of the two-partJustice League. Not to mention the presence ofJesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, who has his own nefarious plans to enact with the body of General Zod.
Total Film’s issue hits newsstands this Friday, and hopefully its “complete access to the ultimate caped clash” will shed more light on these details.
