Michael B. Jordanis currently on top of the world thanks to his dual roles inSinners, the vampire horror blockbuster fromRyan Coogler, but more than 10 years ago, he starred in a superhero movie that’s climbing streaming charts. Jordan stars alongsideDane DeHaanandAlex RussellinChronicle, the 2012 superhero/sci-fi thriller following three high-school friends who gain superpowers but find their lives spinning out of control.Chroniclerecently hit Max at the start of the month and has since become a hit for the streamer,landing at #7 at the time of writing. The film earned an 85% from critics and a 72% from audiences onRotten Tomatoes, and it grossed $126 million at the box office against a budget of $12 million.

Max Landisteamed up withJosh Lankto write the script forChronicle, and Lank also stepped behind the camera to direct the film. Landis is best known for his work as a scribe onBright, the 2017 Netflix original movie starringWill Smith, and he also penned the screenplay forVictor Frankenstein, the 2015 film starringJames McAvoy. As for Trank,Chronicleserved as his feature directorial debut, and he reunited with Jordan forFantastic Four, the critically panned and audience-maligned Marvel movie that also starsMiles Teller. He then followed that up five years later withCapone, the 2020 R-rated biopic starringTom Hardythat earned abysmal scores from critics and audiences onRotten Tomatoes. He has not directed anything in the five years since teaming up with Hardy forCapone.
