Cardi B Is Being Sued by a Fan After Hurling a Microphone Into a Crowd
Cardi B is known for her energetic and captivating performances, but during one fateful performance, the “Ring” rapper may have gone too far. At least that’s what one fan claims in a newly filed lawsuit. According to a report in USA Today,an unnamed Ohio fan is suing Cardi B, alleging assault, battery, and negligence following a heated exchange during a concertin Las Vegas, which took place at The Drai Beachclub and Nightclub, the owners of which are also being sued. The since-viral moment occurred in August 2023, when Cardi B was recorded on video performing “Bodak Yellow,” during which she later threw a microphone into the audience, which hit the plaintiff, who had splashed a cup of water in her face.According to a full report of the incident USA Today, the fan did it in response to Cardi B, who allegedly had asked the audience to splash her with water moments before due to the heat.
In the plaintiff’s lawsuit, the latter claims that she acted “in accordance with the environment created by Cardi B’s express words and conduct, and in a manner consistent with other attendees…” The fan also alleges that she sustained “physical pain, emotional distress, reputational damage, embarrassment, and harassment from both the media and members of the public,” following the incident. “What has been written off as a joke by many people is actually a traumatic experience that has significantly impacted my well-being and quality of life,” the victim said in a written statement. “I am seeking justice in the hopes of holding Cardi B accountable for her misdeeds, as no celebrity is above the law.”
In response to the lawsuit, Cardi B’s attorneys stated on her behalf, stating, “The filing of a civil case against Ms. Almanzar (Cardi B) regarding the two-year-old microphone incident is a transparent and pitiful attempted financial shakedown. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but apparently the opportunity to attempt to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up.”

Cardi B’s Ex-husband Offset Is Seeking Spousal Support
Cardi B’s upcoming lawsuit with a disgruntled fan is not the only legal issue she has faced this year. According to a representative for Cardi B speaking to People Magazine, the reason behind the divorce was “not based on cheating rumors, but rather has been a long time coming.” As fans are aware, the couple has experienced several high-profile breakups over the years. Since last year, the two have moved on with other partners, withCardi B currently dating New England Patriots football player Stephon Diggs. However, Cardi B and Offset’s breakup has not been pretty, as it wasfirst reported by TMZin May 2025 thatOffset had petitioned for an undisclosed amount of spousal support.
