Last night Sony’sTom Rothman(Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group) took the CinemaCon stage to showcase their upcoming films. As you might imagine, withPaul Feig’sGhostbustersarriving July 15th, a lot of time was spent pushing the film with Feig and cast membersKristen Wiig,Melissa McCarthy,Kate McKinnon, andLeslie Joneson stage riffing. ButGhostbusterswasn’t the only film teased, as Sony also revealed the first footage fromEdgar Wright’sBaby Driver,Antoine Fuqua’sThe Magnificent SevenstarringDenzel WashingtonandChris Pratt,Ron Howard’sDaVinci CodesequelInferno, the thrillerThe Shallows(starringBlake Lively),Underworld 5,Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and more.
And while the studio didn’t reveal any footage, they made sure to mentionThe Dark Towerhad started filming that day, and showed title cards forZombieland 2,The Equalizer 2,Bad Boys 3, and theAnimated Spider-Manmovie, and also teased new footage from the r rated animated movieSausage Partyand a number of other films.

However, there were two highlights during the Sony panel that I’ve yet to mention, and they wereAng Lee’s PTSD Iraq War dramaBilly Lynn’s Long Halftime WalkstarringKristen Stewart,Vin Diesel,Garrett Hedlund,Steve Martinand directorMorten Tyldum’ssci-fi romancePassengersstarringJennifer LawrenceandChris Pratt.
As you’ll hear me talk about in the video blog below with Peter from/Film, both films looked great for different reasons and I really think both could end up being really special. Also, the chemistry between Lawrence and Pratt was palpable and made me believe they were falling in love. Both movies open in theaters later this year.

Sorry for the audio issues you might notice in the video, we didn’t know we were having any problems while recording.
