The movie was a commercial hit, earning $244 million on a $100 million budget, but received mixed reviews. WhileJohnson was praised for his brooding performance,the screenplay and story received criticism from fans and critics alike. It can be further seen in the Rotten Tomatoes ratings, where the critics gave the movie a generous 58% and the audience gave it a much lower 48% score. Nonetheless, the movie is a good rewatch for its action set pieces and distinct depiction of the legendary hero. The movie will start making its film festival rounds soon, and more will be known about the project in time. Fans can rest assured that,with Safdie at the helm and Johnson leading the cast, this A24 project is poised to be a knockout hit.
