Most of the beloved actors from the TV seriesFull Houseare returning for the resurgence on Netflix. Two notable gals who aren’t, however, are the Olsen twins. The actresses, who’ve taken a break from acting, portrayed the young and lovable Michelle. According toJohn Stamos, aka Uncle Jesse, Netflix tried to get them to come back forFuller House, and when it didn’t work out, they reached out to their other sister.

Stamos spoke about the upcoming series onThe Howard Stern Showand claimedMary-KateandAshleydid not return alongside their former co-stars because they were afraid of returning to acting.

Here’s what he said,

They seemed very into [Fuller House]; they just were afraid of acting. They hadn’t acted; they don’t consider themselves actresses.

Mary-Kate’s last role was in 2011’sBeastly, theBeauty and the Beastadaptation featuringVanessa HudgensandAlex Pettyfer. Ashley, meanwhile, has been off-camera for longer; she had an uncredited role in theCasey Affleck-directed, Joaquin Phoenix-ledI’m Still Herein 2010.Lori Loughlin, who plays Aunt Becky inFuller House, confirmed the twins were not present for filming on the first season, while executive producerRobert L. Boyettaddressed the matter in a statement. Apparently, Netflix still tried to get at least some Olsen power in the form ofElizabeth Olsen.

Speaking toAndy Cohenina separate interviewforSirius XM’s Radio Andy, Stamos said:

We actually went to…I don’t think this has been talked about. I didn’t do it, I think [executive producer]Jeff Franklindid. I said, ‘Call the sister. Ask her.’ We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ‘Come on, she’s not going to do that.’ But we did call her agent.

Elizabeth landed the role of Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having made her debut inAvengers: Age of Ultronand will return forCaptain America: Civil War. So, yeah, she clearly has her own thing going.
