Paul Feig’s remake ofGhostbustershas been making quite a bit of a stir. The International Bureau of Humorless Sexists pitched an epic fit when the script, by Feig andKatie Dippold, called for four women to play the roles of the central quartet of specter hunters, and they’re still unloading quite a lot of sour grapes onto the message boards. There’s also the matter ofBill MurrayandErnie Hudson’s cameos in the film, which are being kept under lock and key for the time being. And mind you, this is just the stuff leading up to the first trailer, which actually made the film look pretty uproarious after all this hubbub.
Some of the biggest laughs from the footage we’ve seen thus far has come fromChris Hemsworth’s Kevin, the eye-candy secretary that would seemingly be the replacement for Annie Potts' character in the original films. In a new video featurette, Feig and the central cast, includingMelissa McCarthy,Leslie Jones,Kristen Wiig, andKate McKinnon, praised the improvisational comedic skills of Hemsworth, while also pointing out the basic unfairness of a man being both so funny and so damn good-looking. Seriously, how many gifts can your genes give you? The featurette also premieres a few new scenes from the film which only goes to further pump up anticipation for Feig’s comedy, which opens nationwide on July 15th.
