Godzillahas been around for well over 50 years in mainstream media, and he’s without a doubt the most recognizable kaiju in the history of, as Hulk would say, big monsters. Fans are accustomed to gettinga new movie featuring Godzillaevery few years, but the big nuclear lizard is now coming to a much more interactive format. Collider is thrilled to exclusively announce that, in collaboration with WorldWide Sumo, Toho International has entered into a partnership tobring Godzilla to the Super Power Show!, a dynamic live experience that will fuse the unstoppable force of Godzilla with rich Japanese tradition and the excitement of modern pop culture. The show will debut in San Diego during the last weekend of July, at the same time and place as the fabledSan Diego Comic-Con.
The one-of-a-kind event will include sumo wrestling, authentic Japanese music, cuisine, and art, as well as a special live appearance from Godzilla throughout the show. There will even be Sumo Wrestling Exhibitions featuring formal professional Sumo wrestlers from Japan, Mongolia, and Brazil, with live music, Taiko Drumming, and Shamisen performances. Fans can also enjoy a Japanese marketplace with all their favorite food, drinks, and trinkets to take home and treasure. The show will even have exclusive merchandise that’s only available for a limited time. The first installment of the show will take place in San Diego at Petco Park’s Gallagher Square on July 25 and 26 at 5 pm, before moving to New Jersey at American Dream Mall on August 1, 2, and 3 at 11 am and 5 pm. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
