With the success ofPreyin 2022 and the anticipation growing forPredator: Badlandscoming in November 2025, fans are getting even morePredatorstories. From the creative minds ofDan TrachtenbergandJoshua Wassung, a newPredatoranimated anthology movie,Predator: Killer of Killers, has been announced with a trailer and aHulurelease for June 2025. This original movie follows the story of three different warriors across history —a Viking raider, a ninja in feudal Japan, and a WWII fighter — not only fighting for personal reasons, but for survival against the ultimate predator of every species in the universe. Honestly, you had us aViking.
Before the big announcement, Trachtenberg spoke with a group of journalists during an edit bay visit, at which Collider was in attendance. In teeing up the news,he recalled how, afterPrey, he started to play with the idea of whatother time periods the Predator could be dropped into. Here’s what he said:

“Thinking about the different time periods, I honed in on the idea of ‘What if we made an animated movie where we could express ourselves in a way that we don’t get to see?’ We’ve now had all thesePredatormovies, and we’re doing this one that’s crazy different. But still, with all the stuff… The other side of the coin that I love inPredatormovies is that hard R crazy carnage. Wouldn’t it be cool to see that in a different medium?'”
Trachtenberg went on to say thathe and his co-director Wassung madeKiller of Killersat the exact same time asBadlands“stupidly but awesomely.”However, this isn’t the first time Tractenberg has worked simultaneously on two projects in different mediums. While he was working on the pilot episode of thePrime VideoseriesThe Boys, Trachtenberg also directed a cinematic for the video gameWarframe. At least with these two new projects, they’re both set in the same universe!

‘Predator: Killer of Killers’ Viking Anthology Story Tells of a Bloody Quest For Revenge
At the same edit bay visit, Trachtenberg treated the journalists in attendance with one of the three stories of the new anthology movie. “The Shield” sets itself in 84 A.D. and follows Ursa, aViking guiding a group of warriors— including her son, Ander — on a warpath toward Zorin, a warlord who wrecked havoc on her life in a personal way.Now on the doorstep to finally seeking her revenge, Ursa and her crew must face an unexpected obstacle… the Predator itself. Based on the footage watched, we can confirm that the animated anthology movie doesn’t hold back from the action and violence fans have come to expect from aPredatormovie.
Although these three stories are spread out across time and cultures, the film is threaded together by a connection to the emotional, character-oriented narratives, as well as a common enemy in the Predator. After screening “The Shield,” Trachtenberg said ofKiller of Killersthat the movie is “very much about the connection between the characters as much as the stories themselves.” Here’s what he said when elaborated on further:

“I’m very driven by characters who are trying to break a cycle. All of our characters are really… I should say most of the characters are really dealing with generational stuff. They’re all different. All the chapters are different genre-wise. Some are more fun than the others. This one (“The Shield”) has some fun to it, I guess, but it’s also pretty intense.”
Of course, even though they’re three separate stories, we can’t help but wonder howKiller of Killersties in with thePredatoruniverse. When asked about its connection toBadlands,Trachtenberg teased that “it might go into more thanBadlands… or it might not.”While we won’t give away spoilers about how “The Shield” resolves, let’s just say that the final shot does open the door to junctures in thePredatorlore.
