BeforeAvengers: Endgamehas even premiered in one territory, a follow-up Disney+ plan has already taken some of the dramatic wind out of its sails. Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, may have survived the initial Snap, but now it looks like he’ll be surviving the upcoming conclusion to the two-part feature film. (The same might not be true for the Barton Family. I mean, somethinghad to cause Clint to go all emo, get a dramatic haircut, an edgy costume, and a grief tattoo.)
Varietyreports that Disney+, the mega-company’s upcoming streaming service, will feature aHawkeyeseries withJeremy Rennerset to reprise his big-screen role for the small-screen/mobile market. That show will join previously announced titles likeThe Vision and Scarlet Witch,Loki, andWinter Soldier/Falcon. Fans can expect these series to tie into the post-EndgameMCU in a significant way, according toKevin Feige, while also enjoying a bigger budget than Marvel’s previous series ventures. Each series is also expected to run from six to eight episodes, as limited series, but who knows, they might have the potential for renewals like traditional seriesifwhen they are deemed successful.

As forHawkeye, the series' plot (if it proves out) also sheds some light onAvengers: Endgamehappenings where Barton and his alter ego are concerned. (If you don’t want to know, stop reading here since they might be somewhatspoilery.)
As Variety has it, the adventure series sees Barton passing the torch to Kate Bishop, a Marvel Comics character who eventually took up the mantle of Hawkeye and was part of the superhero team, Young Avengers. I recentlyspeculated that Barton’s daughter might take over that role from her comics counterpart, but though Clint might be training her in archery inAvengers: Endgame, I strongly suspect that Clint will be the only surviving members of the Bartons. That not only gives him the vengeful streak he’ll need in the movie but the dramatic and gritty gravitas Renner will have to bring to a Hawkeye who’s reluctant to train a protege who reminds him of his departed daughter. This is all hearsay, but it sounds like we’ll find out more sooner than later.

Avengers: Endgamearrives in theaters on April 26th, followed by what’s sure to be a deluge of Disney+ news once everyone on Earth has seen it.
