AlthoughPedro Pascal’s role as Joel has been cut shorter than Season 1 after his tragic death in Episode 2, other characters like Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Tommy (Gabriel Luna) have stepped into larger roles.Kaitlyn Deveris one of the many new additions to the Season 2 cast, and while her role as Abby has been small thus far, she’s certainly making the most of her limited screen time.Lifestyle Asiarecently caught up with Dever for an interview to chat aboutThe Last of UsSeason 2, and she was asked if she had spoken withLaura Bailey, who plays Abby in the game:
“I actually didn’t, mostly because Neil Druckmann really wanted me to justfocus on the scripts and not the game.”
Dever then went into her experience with the game, and although she’s playing one of the main characters fromThe Last of Us Part II, her involvement with the Game of the Year-winning installment might surprise you:
“He even asked me not to play the game, although it was a little too late for that, because I had already played through half of the second game, and I’d finished the first game probably twice.”
Dever rounded out the rest of the interview by talking about her shared desire with the creators to"really just focus on the scripts, the text, and creating the character from the ground up.“She also praised Laura Bailey’s performance as Abby, but because"it all happened so fast,“she didn’t really have the time to get in touch with her.The Last of Ushas already been renewed for a third season, and it’s become increasingly clear that Season 2 will only adapt Ellie’s storyline fromPart II. This means Dever will step into the spotlight in Season 3, which does not yet have an official release date.
What Is ‘The Last of Us’ Rotten Tomatoes Score?
The Last of UsSeason 2 currently sits at a 95% rating from critics onRotten Tomatoes, but the show has been thesubject of review bombing, which has led to its audience score falling to 47%. Season 1 earned a slightly higher 96% rating from critics, but its audience rating holds firm at 87%, much higher than Season 2. Fans of the game will remember that the same thing happened upon release in 2020, with Abby star Laura Bailey evenreceiving death threatsfor her role in the game.
