Warner Bros. has released the first trailer forThe LEGO Batman Movie, the animated Caped Crusader’s spinoff feature fromThe LEGO Movie. Will Arnettreturns to voice the Gotham vigilante in the satirical spin on the classic comic book character for directorChris McKay(Robot Chicken).  From a script bySeth Grahame-Smith, the film centers on the solitary Bat of Gotham whose world is turned upside down when Robin and Batgirl come on the scene.

This teaser trailer is fantastic, and couldn’t come at a better time. WhileBen Affleck’s Batman inBatman v Supermanis averydark incarnation of the Caped Crusader,The LEGO Batman Movie’s take on the character looks to be equally different, diving deep into the monotonous day-to-day of what it’s really like to be Batman. McKay was the co-director onThe LEGO Movie, overseeing the animation from its base of operations in Australia, so he already has a solid handle on the tone thatPhil LordandChris Millerestablished in that film, and I really can’t wait to spend 90 minutes with Arnett’s iteration of this superhero, and all the glorious banality that that entails.

Here’s the official synopsis forThe LEGO Batman Movie:

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
