Hamiltoncreator and possible robotLin-Manuel Mirandahas lined up yet another exciting gig: hostingSaturday Night Live. NBC announced today that Miranda will hostSNLon October 8th with musical guestTwenty One Pilots, marking yet another zeitgeist marker for the 36-year-old writer/performer/singer. It comes on the heels of the announcement thatMargot Robbieis hosting theSNLseason premiere this Saturday, although this year NBC has been a bit slower in announcing who’ll be hosting the first few shows.
Miranda, of course, is the creator/originator of the Broadway musical phenomenonHamilton, which captured the zeitgeist in an insane way and is sure to go down in history as one of the greatest musicals of all time. Miranda won his first Tony for creating and starring in the Broadway musicalIn the Heights, which revolves around a Dominican-American neighborhood in New York City, and in his very short career has already won a Pulitzer Prize, two Grammys, an Emmy, a MacArthuer Genius Award, and three Tonys. So yeah, the guy is talented.

Miranda concluded his stunning run as the star ofHamiltonthis summer, and in its wake has been keeping busy. He’ll co-star in Disney’sMary PoppinssequeloppositeEmily Blunt, which starts shooting next year, and he’s developinganIn the Heightsmovie. In the midst of hisHamiltonrun, he also co-composed the score and original songs for the upcoming Disney animated filmMoanaas well as the cantina song inStar Wars: The Force Awakens.
Basically, there’s little that Mirandacan’tdo, and his humble and charismatic personality makes him an easy person to love. So yeah, there is every reason in the world to assume that he’s going to crush it onSNLnext week.
