We at Collider are happy to exclusively debut three new teaser trailers for the upcoming Syfy seriesNightflyers. Based onA Song of Ice and FireauthorGeorge R.R. Martin’s 1980 novella of the same name, the series follows eight scientists and a telepath who embark on a mission to the edge of the solar system in the hope of making contact with alien life. Terrifying and violent events begin to take place, testing the loyalties and mental fortitude of those aboard the titular ship.

The series hails fromMidnight Meat TrainandPet SematarywriterJeff Buhler, who serves as showrunner, and looks to be a welcome addition to Syfy’s increasingly impressive slate of original shows. Anchored by the terrificThe Magicians, the network has been branching out into genre territory to great success with series as varied as the Superman prequelKryptonand the horror anthologyChannel Zero.

Nightflyerslooks to fit squarely into the horror realm, albeit with some delicious sci-fi flair. The show has been described asPsychoin space, with a bit of a haunted house vibe, and it’s exciting to see Syfy leaning heavily into such a promising premise.

In 2093, in hopes of making contact with a mysterious alien life at the edge of our solar system, a group of maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition aboard The Nightflyer. As they race towards first contact, terrifying and violent events begin to occur, causing the once tight-knit crew to mistrust each other. It’s not long before their main mission becomes survival.

NIGHTFLYERSis based on the novella by George R. R. Martin, who also serves as an executive producer on the project, and is produced by Universal Cable Productions and co-produced by Netflix. Jeff Buhler wrote the adaptation for television and is the showrunner and executive producer. Brian Nelson, Mike Cahill and Andrew McCarthy serve as executive producers. Gene Klein, David Bartis and Doug Liman from Hypnotic; Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta of Gaeta Rosenzweig Films; and Lloyd Ivan Miller and Alice P.
