Focus Features has unveiled the first teaser trailer forNocturnal Animals, the long-awaited follow-up film fromA Single ManfilmmakerTom Ford. Based on theAustin WrightnovelTony and Susan, the film starsAmy Adamsas a successful art dealer whose former flame (Jake Gyllenhaal) sends her an intense and thrilling manuscript for a novel inspired by their relationship. The story plays out in two parts, switching from Adams and her life in present day to the story that’s being told in the manuscript, aptly namedNocturnal Animals.
Admittedly, this teaser trailer is my first exposure to the film (other thanyesterday’s brief teaser for the teaser…) so while I have very little idea of what’s going on in this movie beyond what the synopsis tells me, I’m intrigued nonetheless. When the film’s marketing material (mercifully) holds back on all but the most basic plot points, it falls to the quality of the cast, crew, and overall look of the film to draw viewers in.Nocturnal Animalsknocks it out of the park in this regard. Hopefully the slew of Oscar-nominated actors in this film’s top billing land not only another nod come awards season, but actually get to bring home some hardware this time.
