InOffice Christmas Party,Jennifer Anistonwants to cancel Christmas – or at least, cancel the yearly office party, along with everyone’s jobs. There are a few things about the movie that give us hope: a fantastic cast and some aspirationally insane party antics (it’s not a surprise that the movie is based off of a story fromHangoverco-writerJon Lucas).T.J. MillerandKate McKinnonare going to very assuredly be delightful, with Aniston andJason Batemanplaying their foils as the straight men (or in Aniston’s case, the meany boss).
What gives us some pause, though, is the familiar feeling the cameo-stuffed trailer gives of movies likeValentine’s DayandNew Year’s Eve, evenMovie 43. Just because you throw a ton of celebrities together in a movie and have some slow-mo shots and raunchy antics doesn’t mean it’s going to equal a hit. On the other hand, there’sJillian BellandCourtney B. Vance. I am cautiously optimistic.

The new trailer gives a little more context into how the party comes to be, and what it could mean for the beleaguered branch of the company (I also like Aniston and Miller playing siblings, as entirely unlikely as it is). But it also adds those hinky elements of: Will a Christmas miracle take place and save everybody’s jobs? Will Aniston’s uptight corporate manager learn to loosen up and just give in to the love? This is where the movie loses me … but we’ll see.
