The magic may be returning, but one key voice from the originalHarry Potterera is urging caution as a brand-new trio of child actors prepares to take on the most iconic roles in modern fantasy.WithDominic McLaughlin,Arabella Stanton, andAlastair Stoutofficially castas Harry, Hermione, and Ron inHBO’s highly anticipatedHarry PotterTV reboot, excitement among fans is at a high — but so are concerns from those who’ve seen how overwhelming that level of fame can become. One of those people?Chris Watson, father of original Hermione starEmma Watson, who offered a stark reality check for the parents of the new stars.
“As a parent, you have to be scared,” Chris told Times Radio. “This can be a very difficult thing for a parent and child to handle, or not.” Chris, who helped Emma navigate fame from the momentshe was cast at age 10, explained how his family kept her grounded — even in the middle of a global phenomenon.

“It certainly helped that I don’t actually watch movies. It’s not a big thing in the house, and so it was easier for us to keep her feet on the ground.”
It’s a sobering reminder that growing up under the spotlight is anything but ordinary. Emma herself reflected on this in a 2009 interview, saying:

“This all happened to me so young. It’s very hard to go back to that time and be like, ‘Did I want to do this?’ It feels very foggy.”

Offering a different — but equally insightful — perspective isIsaac Hempstead Wright, who shot to fame as Bran Stark inGame of Thrones. Wright, who understands the scale of fame that comes with starring in a pop culture behemoth, added:
“Enjoy every minute of it. Take every opportunity it affords you.I can go to any country in the world and there will be someone there who’s pleased to see me. You go to some little bar in Madrid or wherever, and somebody will want to strike up a chat with you. It’s made the world a much smaller place.”
