By Order of thePeaky Blinders, one key member of the crime series' cast in the final seasons of the show won’t be returning when the upcomingNetflix feature-length movie,The Immortal Man, brings back the Birmingham-based gangsters.Sam Claflin, who played real-life fascist Oswald Mosley in the show’s fifth and sixth seasons, has revealed recently that he wouldn’t be returning for the upcoming film. Upon his introduction to the story, it didn’t take long for Claflin’s character to become entangled in a tussle of sorts with the show’s main protagonist,Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby, as both stood on opposite sides of what they believed should be Europe’s future.
The Season 6 finale ofPeaky Blinderssaw Claflin’s Mosley, just like in real life, getting married to Lady Diana Mitford, played byAmber Andersonin the series, in Germany in 1936. Claflin, while speaking with Metro about his performance in the new adaptation ofThe Count of Monte Cristo, was quizzed on his involvement inThe Immortal Man.The Hunger Gamesstar did offer a somewhat tragic response with regard to his involvement in the upcoming sequel.

“I don’t know that I should not say anything, and keep the speculation going… but no, sadly, I’ll share – I’m not in the film, though I’m so excited as a fan of the series. I don’t know any details other than the casting and some of the people in it. I’m thoroughly excited.”
What is ‘The Immortal Man’ About?
One thing is sure,Tommy Shelby is not alien to high-stakes situationsand the upcoming film will continue that trend. The synopsis for The Immortal Man reads:Set during World War II. It explores the escalating tensions and complex dynamics involving the iconic characters of the Peaky Blinders as they navigate new threats and alliances during this turbulent period. With Europe at war, Shelby would be working to sever the long arm of fascism from infecting what he holds dear even as England stands in defiance. BesidesMurphy returning as the iconic Tommy Shelby, Netflix has announced quite an impressive cast forThe Immortal Man, includingBarry Keoghan,Tim Roth,Jay Lycurgo,Ned Dennehy,Sophie Rundle,Silo’sRebecca Ferguson, andStephen Graham.
As previously mentioned, thePeaky Blindersuniverse is set toexpand even beyond the upcoming feature-length film. Original creatorStephen Knightis billed to return for the new series, which is believed to be set in the 1950s. Claflin won’t be the only original series star not returning in the upcoming movie.Finn Cole, who played Michael Gray in the series, will not be returning, as well asKate Phillips, who played Linda Shelby. For Mosley, though, Claflin won’t mind returning to the character in the future. “The hope is that he is still alive. Well, I mean, Oswald Mosley lived until 84. He is still alive in the world, whether or not he’s a part of the world,” the actor told Metro. “I’ve heard rumours similar that [the film is] set in the future. I think Oswald Mosley kind of started losing light and his following during the war.”
