Adam Devineis about to lose his family jewels. With a month left until the release ofGenndy Tartakovsky’s raunchyanimated dog comedyFixed, Netflix released the official red band trailer introducing Bull, a generally good dog played by thePitch Perfectstar who enjoys life with his family. However, everything changes when he finds out he’s about to be neutered, leaving the pooch one night to enjoy his balls before they’re gone for good. Cue one final adventure for Bull and his pals to ensure he squeezes as much out of his nuts in the 24 hours they have left. Alas, from the looks of the trailer, theirnight on the town is about to get wildin ways the canine companions never fully anticipated.

The footage starts wholesome enough with the father of the house introducing the young, bright-eyed Bull fresh from the shelter. Two years later, and he’s a lean, mean, humping machine, much to his family’s disapproval. They turn to neutering to help solve his behavioral problems, leaving the dog with the horrifying realization that his life will never be the same. His friends try to help through the crisis,The 40-Year-Old Virginstyle, though they’re not exactly the most graceful about it, initially promising to “suck your balls.” Together, they rip squirrels in half, get into painful tussles with rats, and take in what can only be described as a back-alley strip club for four-legged friends. In all, it imagines a wild, down-and-dirty night on the town from the perspective of a canine withTartakovsky’s animation style at its most violentand adult.

‘Fixed’ Took Tartakovsky Years to Land at a Streaming Service

The road toFixedwas a long and winding one for Tartakovsky, stemming from 2009 when he first conceived of the idea. With five Emmy wins under his belt, he’s beena defining force in animation for years now, from his classicDexter’s Laboratoryto the belovedSamurai Jack,Star Wars: Clone Wars, theHotel Transylvaniamovies, and his bloody prehistoric sci-fi series,Primal. Yet, despite his legendary resume, it took a while to get the project off the ground and into the hands of a studio and distributor who saw the vision. In a previous interview with Collider’sSteve Weintraub, he assured that, while there’s a lot of sex, butts, and buttholes,it’s more tasteful and purposeful in its use of R-rated imagerythan it seems, especially in the context of all the studio reluctance. There are some gasp-worthy moments, but he believes it’s no worse than anyR-rated live-action filmsbeing made today:

“When you talk about live-action rated-R movies, they get away with a lot. You can have full nudity, sex, you show breasts and butts, and all these things. It’s sometimes pretty intense. And certainly violence and all these things. Butwhen it comes to animation, we don’t show anything. It’s very tasteful, besides the butts and the buttholes. But even when you analyze those, they’re drawn very simply. We could have drawn very detailed anuses and really gotten in there, but that’s not what the humor is for me. I wanted it to be very charming and fun, but still kind of raunchy. That’s the thing. So when you judge it as an R-rated movie, it’s shocking, as an R-ratedanimatedmovie. When you look at just what we show to a live-action rated-R movie, it’s nowhere near, right?”
