However, the most important part of the episode was the conversation around the impact of a situation like this on families, and the continued struggles faced byformer prisonersonce they returned to their lives. During the conversation, Savannah admitted tofeeling a “disconnect” from her parentssince they had been back home, despite the deep bond that they had always shared. This marks the first time the podcast host has opened up about the toll all of this has taken on her.

Todd and Julie were shocked to hear that their daughter was feeling this way. However, they were quick to validate her feelingsand help her understand what she is going through. In fact, Todd went as far as to say that the trauma Savannah has experienced by his and Julie’s prison sentences might be more what the rest of the family has felt. In Todd’s exact words:“You haven’t had an out. You haven’t had a stop and reset.”The Chrisley family patriarch admitted that Savannah had a lot on her plate during his and Julie’s incarceration. Not only was she constantly advocating for their release, she also stepped up andtook guardianship of her younger siblings,ChloeandGrayson Chrisley.

What’s worse is thatall of this started when she was just 25 years oldand trying to figure out her own life. Todd went on to talk about the importance of letting go of control and taking a step back from all the chaos. He acknowledged that throughout his life, he had been the one to control everything from his family to his business. However, his time in prison practicallyforced him to let go of that control, and sometimes, that’s what one needs to do to ground oneself.
