When it comes to comic book movies, the look of the superheroes and villains (and their costumes) draws every bit as much attention as the actors, plots, and Easter eggs. Supersuits have evolved over the decades on both the big and small screens with very few being reused from season to season or feature to feature. Filmmakers and showrunners alike keep things fresh with new costumes that pay homage to classic comic book looks, whether it’s Batman’s power armor inBatman v Superman, the nod to classic X-Men costumes inX-Men: Apocalypse, or even the various speedsuits put on display inThe Flash.

So withJon Watts’Spider-Man: Homecomingdrawing all sorts of attention ahead of its release next summer, any little costume tweak is going to finds itself the subject of scrutiny, especially when that tweak is the web-slinger’s iconic web wings. AtComic Con Experience 2016 in Brazil, a short clip from the film teased an upgrade to the suit that includes the under-the-arm web wings; read on to find out more about them.

Here’s a description of the footage from our friends atOmelete:

The scene begins with the camera in first person, as the vision of Peter Parker. We see Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), who asks the young man to hurry. “What is this?” Asks Hogan. “It’s my suit,” Parker replies. We see only the sleeves of the uniform and the web-shooters. “You did not get the package?” Hogan asks. Parker then finds a package on the table with a note from Tony Stark: “some minor upgrades”.

The next scene shows Spider-Man on top of an building. When he jumps, small wings similar to the drawings of Steve Ditko and John Romita appear. The “wings” range from the waist to the middle of the arm and maintain the blend of retro and technological of the uniform seen in Captain America: Civil War.
