It’s no secret thatAvengers: Doomsdayhas a massive cast, with new and old cast members joining the fray. However, another Marvel star might be involved in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.LokistarSophia Di Martinoteased a potential appearance in the nextAvengersfilm, hinting that Sylvie might reunite with Loki very soon. A now-deleted Instagram post from the actress teased her potential movie appearance. Additionally, there were reports that she and her stunt double,Sarah Irwin, were spotted in the UK, where production forDoomsdayis located. There is no official confirmation from Marvel Studios if Sylvie will also be part ofAvengers: Doomsday,along with the other cast members of theLokiseries, aside fromTom Hiddleston.
Avengers: Doomsdayfeatures a star-studded cast list, featuring the return ofRobert Downey Jr.as Doctor Doom and cast members fromThunderbolts*,The Fantastic Four: First Steps,Black Panther, and other Marvel movies. Aside from Sylvie,Avengers: Doomsdayhas yet to confirm the return of many of its characters, including established names likeJeremy Renner’s Hawkeye,Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, andBenedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. Some characters featured in Disney+ shows also haven’t been announced, likeIman Vellani’s Ms Marvel andOscar Isaac’s Moon Night. While many characters are missing from the initial announcements,Elizabeth OlsenandScarlett Johanssonhave revealed they won’t be part of the nextAvengersinstallment.
Who Is Sylvie in the MCU?
Sylvie is the female variant of Loki, who first appeared in the 2021 Disney+ seriesLoki. The TVA captured her but eventually escaped, and she was on the run. She and Loki eventually meet and join forces as they hunt down “He Who Remains” (aka Kang the Conqueror). In Season 2, after killing Kang, she retreats to a branch timeline and makes a life for herself until she meets Loki again, who asks for her help…again. This Loki variant opposes the TVA because she opposes their mission of protecting the Sacred Timeline by destroying branched ones, which goes against free will. But afterLoki’s sacrifice and finding his glorious purpose, Sylvie is able to continue living her lifewithout the fear of being hunted. Following her Disney+ appearance, Sylvie has yet to be mentioned in any other Marvel title or has yet to make another appearance, whether it be another season or a future Marvel project.
