The finale ofCobra Kaiaired on Netflix a few months back this year, andThe Karate Kiduniverse is about to expand with its next feature film,Karate Kid: Legends. However, thisJackie ChanandRalph Macchiofeature isn’t the only extension of this martial arts franchise. According toCobra Kai’s showrunner,Jon Hurwitz, there are still more stories to tell.
During an interview at Paleyfest (via The Direct), Hurwitz revealed he has plenty of ideas for future stories, but making them would depend on what Netflix and Sony want. He stated that he had an idea for a show that would take place 100 years ago and events that would take place in the future afterCobra Kai. While none of these projects have gotten the green light to be made, he hopes a future update will be shared soon.

“I mean, we have a buffet in front of us in terms of what we’d like to do, and it just has to line up with what our partners at Sony and Netflix want to do. There are contemporary spin-offs that take place after the events of Cobra Kai. There are other spin-offs that, you know, we know the audience has been speculating about that took place 100 years ago. We’ll have to see, you know, and everything in between. We’ll have to see which one is the right time and the right project. But hopefully, there’s more to share soon.”
As theKarate Kidfranchise expands, it will be interesting to see what happens next to these beloved characters or learn more about their backstory. The story ofCobra Kainot only focuses on the present, where an adult Johnny Lawrence (Willaim Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso ( are, but it also shares some untold stories of the characters' past, particularly towards Mr Miyagi. It also featured flashbacks of some of the show’s characters, like Kreese.
