The series will be written byNatalie Chaidez. Now, Washington, who is promoting her new movie,Shadow Force,is talking about what the series will bring for fans of the original show.
Desperate Housewiveswascreated byMarc Cherryand ran from 2004 to 2012, bringing us into the lives of the women of Wisteria Lane. The original series starredEva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman,andNicollette Sheridan.It was messy, thrilling, and became a classic among fans. And Washington promises that her take on the show is going to be an exciting addition to the world of Wisteria Lane.“It’s inspired – I can’t say too much– it’s very newly announced, it’s in development,” Washington said on a recent trip toThe View.
“The idea is that it’s new times, there’s new challenges, it’s like – what happens on that cul-de-sac now?” Washington went on to say. When asked if she was going to star in it, she said that she “can’t say any more” quite yet. We do have a synopsis for the series which saysWisteria Lanewill be a “fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery, in the vein ofDesperate Housewives” and is going to center around “a group of5 very different friends and sometimes frenemieswho all live on a picture-perfect cul de sac calledWisteria Lane. On the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream. Beautiful homes, gorgeous families, shiny SUVs in the driveway – but behind those white picket fences and smiling Insta posts, are SECRETS.”
A Return to Wisteria Lane Is a Good Thing
Desperate Housewivesandthe ladies of Wisteria Laneoriginally graced screens for eight seasons. The television show was filled with mysteries and twists, and fans still flock to the back lot at Universal Studios in California tosee where the show was filmed. Taking us back there with a new series opens up a lot of possibilities. The original series started with the death of Mary Alice (Brenda Strong) and expanded from there. The new series promises to bring audiences “new challenges,” buteverything Washington was able to say about the series has us excited!Until we know more, there are always eight seasons of the ladies of Wisteria Lane to return to.
