People with an Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch one film that is being “elevated” on the global streaming platform. Vertical’sElevation,the 2024 post-apocalyptic sci-fi film led byCaptain America: Brave New WorldstarAnthony Mackie,is currentlysitting in the top 10 on Prime Video’s streaming charts.While the film itself did not get great reviews, the sci-fi actioner is clearly making waves for people at home.
As of this article’s publication,Elevationis currently sitting in the number three spoton Prime Video’s Top 10 films chart globally, according toFlixPatrol. It is behind two other action films:Heads of State,starringIdris ElbaandJohn Cenaas politicians-turned-action heroes, andThe Accountant 2,a thriller starringBen AffleckandJon Bernthal.The high rankings forElevationis good news for a film that underperformed at the box office,grossing less than $4 millionon a budget of about $18 million.
The film stars Mackie as a single father, Will, who lives with his son high up in the Rocky Mountains. Most of humanity has beendecimated by predatorswho emerged from underground. Surviving humans live at high elevations, about 8,000 feet, heights that the predators are unable (or unwilling) to venture to. However, when Will’s son starts to get sick, he recruits a scientist, Nina (Morena Baccarin), to venture out of elevation with him to find help. The film currently holds only a 55% critics' score onRotten Tomatoes, though it was more well received by regular viewers with an 80% audience score.

Elevationmarked yet another action film in the long checklist of this genre for Mackie, who is best known for portraying the original Falcon, Sam Wilson, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the events ofAvengers: Endgamein 2019,Mackie’s Wilson takes on the mantle of the new Captain America, with the aforementionedCaptain America: Brave New Worldbeing the first MCU film in which Mackie played that role. Mackie is set to return as Cap in bothAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars,set to hit theaters in 2026 and 2027.
