When Warner Bros. announced its hefty slate of DC superhero movies, there were still more to come. In addition to another solo Superman film,Ben Affleckwill star in — andmay even direct— a Batman film. The question is, who will join him for the affair? Based on a new rumor buzzing around the blogosphere, that special someone could end up beingWill Smith’s Deadshot.
According toLatino Review, sources claim that Smith is so amped to be a part of the DC cinematic universe that he wants to segue his character into the Batman film. The actor recently wrapped filmingDavid Ayer’sSuicide Squad, which will hit theaters on June 01, 2025 and introduce Deadshot and a team of other classic DC villains into the landscape. Smith is reportedly signed on to appear in multiple movies, so it wouldn’t be a complete shock if he popped up alongside Affleck. The report further stipulates that those involved are enthusiastic about this prospect. If this team-up — described as being akin toThe Good, the Bad and the Ugly— does pan out, Smith would have a “major role.”

WB debutedthe first footageofSuicide Squadat this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which generated a ton of positive buzz. Should this attention lead to major box office dollars after the film’s debut, the studio would be even more inclined to cross pollinate this property into the other films.Jared Leto’s The Joker, for one, will already be teased inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice; Bruce Wayne compares the Man of Steel to “freaks dressed like clowns” and later stares at a hero suit spray painted with a Joker-y message. Elsewhere, the Comic-Con footage revealed Batman chasing down Joker and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) in his Batmobile. I’d be surprised if their beef was far from over.
